SearchDIALOG can simultaneously search multiple sources for different types of documents. The DIALOG Production System, the DIALOG Publication Archive, the Internet and all external databases are searched in a single query.A DIALOG search returns agency texts, photos and graphics, Internet content, articles from current production or from the archives as well as content from all the accessible databases. Phonetic and morphological searching plus the use of a search database help to improve search performance. Query results can be displayed in different views. It is also possible to choose which results are displayed and how they are arranged along with the size of the displayed information and the colour of the text. The hit list also clearly shows where the individual objects are still being used (which articles contain an image that has been found, for example). Images are stored and displayed with their original caption as well as with all other captions that are used. The DIALOG Image Viewer can be used to carry out a direct image comparison for a selection of images. Every user can create their own particular search profiles that they can use repeatedly in searches. Background searches can be defined for agency reports.
